We were happy recently to be involved in a small way with the marriage of Milanna and Karen. While we, and quite a few other members from the Wedding Car and Limousine Association WA, have provided the transport and assistance for many same-sex ceremonies, we say marriage in this case because the ceremony was conducted on the Perth CBD premises of the British Consulate.
This means that the consulate is “British soil” and with same-sex marriage legal in Britain and at least one of the couple being a British citizen the ceremony is considered legal in Britain. Of course, this does not count here in Australia once they leave the embassy’s “British soil”, at present, but with recent announcements in regards to the same sex marriage legislation in Australia, this may change in the very near future. We may well find ourselves very busy with limo hire for same sex weddings in Perth.
The couple were so happy and easy going (and the awesome sunny day made for an added bonus) we were proud to play a small part and join in on the fun.
Perth’s amazing Kings Park provided a fantastic back drop for photos and fun with many tourists and visitors realising the occasion and giving a little cheer and wave in support. With the bubbly flowing freely it was a most happy and well planned afternoon for all.
Then it was off to the Oxford Hotel for the reception – and no doubt more bubbly and more fun!
Of course there was a heartfelt “thank you” to the caring and sharing, safe driving, well groomed, driver in the immaculate limousine at the final destination as the lovely couple realised their time together with Perth Wedding Limo Hire had come to an end – but they have the rest of their lives together to relive the day they spent with the awesome people from Wedding Car Hire .
